TO THE CHURCH OF SARDIS
This sermon focuses on Christ’s sobering message to the church in Sardis found in Book of Revelation 3:1–6. Speaking through the apostle John the Apostle, the risen Jesus Christ delivers a piercing assessment: “You have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.”
“To the Church of Sardis” confronts the danger of spiritual complacency and outward religion without inward vitality. It challenges believers to examine whether their faith is vibrant and growing or merely sustained by reputation and routine. Christ’s call to “wake up” is both a warning and an invitation—to strengthen what remains, to remember the truth once received, and to repent.
This message reminds us that while appearances may impress people, God sees the heart. Yet even in correction, there is hope: a promise to those who overcome that their names will not be blotted out of the Book of Life. Ultimately, this sermon urges the church to pursue authentic faith, spiritual renewal, and a life fully alive in Christ.
